ACADEMICS

The academic program of Visitation Catholic School is second to none. The core subjects of Reading, Mathematics, English, Science, and Social Studies are taught throughout the grades. Technology, physical education and the fine arts round out the curriculum. Underlying and permeating all of our efforts is our Catholic, Christian faith. Religion is taught as a separate subject from pre-school through 8th grade.

Students are challenged to do their best at every level. Personal attention is the hallmark of our faculty and staff. Students who need extra help in some areas receive tutoring and “No Child Left Behind” classes during school hours or after school tutoring from DePaul University students.

Visitation has a 30 station computer center and 28 laptops for use in the classrooms. Teachers use engaged learning techniques to integrate technology into the regular class instruction. A new algebra and pre-algebra software program geared to the individual, gives the junior high students the opportunity to work at their own pace in math.

Standardized testing is done in the 3rd, 5th and 7th grades
