Co-curricular Activities at Visitation Catholic School
Athletics:
Visitation Catholic School offers students (boys and girls) the opportunity to participate in flag football, basketball, volleyball, track and field, and occasionally, other sports. All students have gym class twice a week in our gymnasium.
Students are taught and coached, not only in the skills of the sport, but in the important skill of sportsmanship.
Activities:
In keeping with our philosophy of educating the whole child, Visitation Catholic School offers several co-curricular opportunities:
Student Leaders: from kindergarten through 8th grade, two student leaders from each class are selected. They meet with faculty moderators to plan activities that generate school spirit such as a Thanksgiving food drive, sock hops, and Valentine candygrams.
Junior Scholars Program: a pull-out honors program for students in grades 5 through 8. Each grade level has a theme and students prepare for and take field trips related to the theme and then discuss what they learned.
Gospel choirs (“Voices of Visitation” and Junior Choir): students in grades 6 – 8 may audition for the “Voices of Visitation” and students in grades 3 – 5 may try out for the Junior Choir. The choirs sing for various assemblies and prayer services as well as perform in a Spring Concert in May.
Liturgical Dancers: students in grades 3 through 8 who wish to participate are trained in liturgical dance and perform at school assemblies, prayer services and at the annual Spring Concert.
Services:
Before Care and After Care offer parents a safe and secure place for their children to stay before and after school. Child Care Initiative payments are accepted.
