Our three-tiered approach to SEL is integrated into every classroom, helping students to build skills that lay a foundation for academic achievement and lifelong health.

In the Classroom

SEL for Home

Visitation Catholic School is dedicated to ensuring students have everything they need to succeed in the classroom and beyond. Our three-tiered approach to Social-Emotional Learning allows students to work together in groups, get one-on-one support, and integrate what they've learned into the classroom.

For more information on our Social-Emotional Learning practices and things you can do at homecheck out our Counselors' Corner or our Teacher SEL Padlet.

Weekly Classroom Schedule

Each Day of Social-Emotional Learning in the classroom is dedicated to one of the five core competencies: self-awareness, social awareness, relationship skills, responsible decision-making, and self-management. Through these competencies, our students learn to build relationships, express empathy, and become contributing members of their community.

6th, 7th, and 8th-Grade students take Social-Emotional Learning one step farther by participating in our Restorative Justice Program. This program is supported by Precious Blood Ministries and our community partners. Students learn to resolve conflict peacefully as a part of a Peace Circle and to better understand the justice system and what the processes are if a conflict is not resolved in a peaceful manner. At the end of the first trimester, students participate in a public Peace Circle and Mock Trial to show what they've learned to parents, teachers, and younger peers.
